Billy Idol - Cradle of Love

Peroxide blonde, snearing punk crooner, Billy Idol, released the hit song, "Cradle of Love" on his fourth studio album Charmed Life in 1990. I was 14 when I first saw the video. It is not really suitable for kids, but I was one year past "teenager" status and was mesmerized. Once you watch it, you'll see why.

At the 1990 MTV Video Music Award, the video was nominated for Best Male Video and Best Special Effects and won the award for Best Video from a Film. Oh, and the song rocks.

And did you know that the director, David Fincher, made the decision to film Idol from the waist up as he was unable to walk from a motorcycle accident that had happened in February 1990?

Charmed Life was his 4th studio album:

1) Billy Idol
2) Rebel Yell
3) Whiplash Smile
4) Charmed Life

Charmed Life is one of my fave albums of all time.

Kareem, there are a couple other Idol favorites in my collection including Mony Mony and White Wedding. He had a couple other hits that might be worth exploring (Dancing With Myself, Rebel Yell, Eyes Without a Face), but I'm not real hot for them.

Elizabeth, good catch. My bad. I'll make the change.

I could see why a hormonal 14 year old would enjoy the video :) . He should change "rock the cradle of love" to "Rob the cradle of love" ...hehehehe

This is the first time I listen to this song, didn't listen to a lot of Billy Idol when I was a teenager.
