This is usually my anthem for when the world becomes a bit too much to handle ! so evedintly i have been listening to it quite a bit during the past month...
with the lines :
With your feet in the air and your head on the ground Try this trick and spin it, yeah Your head will collapse But there's nothing in it And you'll ask yourself Where is my mind
Thanks to Napster, Kazaa, and now Limewire I buy albums like once in a blue moon. I have to really love the last couple of songs you released + have a down day for me to buy your album. I just picked up Buckcherry's latest album titled 15 and I LOVE this song. I've heard it before and LOVED it but I didn't know it was by Buckcherry.
I've been meaning to post this one at 7aki's suggestion, here it comes! I mentioned before on my blog that my new personal trainer (btw she totally kicked my ass yesterday) plays in an Indie rock band along with her husband. They've toured a few times and have landed in the top 20 on college radio stations throughout the US.
When I mentioned to her that I watched their performances on youtube her reply was "I'm sorry about that." Apparently they really hate the way those videos and performances turned out and are hoping to replace them with better ones. I had to listen to it a few times before I started feeling it, but this one is my favorite.
The band is called We Landed on the Moon, the song is "one of a kind!" ......what do you think?
I don't care what some grinches say about Christmas tunes but I love them and they make Christmas so special. Every single store front out there is broadcasting the music and I can't get enough.
So here are my favourites in no particular order.
1) Jingle Bell Rock: One of the holiday songs that ROCK sung by Billy Idol. See Dave? He's family friendly too.
2)Jingle Bells: It's not Christmas without this classic, I chose a jazzy version by Diana Krall who happens to be Canadian.
3)I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas: Don't ask me why but I love it and I think it's cute. Apparently there's a story behind it, check it out
4)The Christmas Song - Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire: sung by Nat King Cole
5) Deck the halls: sung By twisted sister. A rock version.
6)Let it snow: by Michael Bublé. He has the most amazing voice and he's good looking AND he's funny! Ahhh, I love Bublé .
Here's an interview with him...SIGH...so hot! And funny AND he's another Canadian.
7) ROCKIN' AROUND : By Brenda Lee Another rokin' song Thanks to Moi for reminding me of another favorite.
8) Feliz Navidad ~ Merry Christmas : No Christmas party is complete without it.
A truly brilliant and underrated track that manages to speak wisdom as well as be a cool dance song, a balance that is very rarely achieved.
"With a long range weapon or suicide bomber Wicked mind is a weapon of mass destruction
Whether you're stowaway's son or BBC 1 Mis-information is a weapon of mass destruction
You could a caucasian or a poor asian Racism is a weapon of mass destruction
Whether inflation or globalisation Fear is a weapon of mass destruction
Whether Haliburton, Enron or anyone Greed is a weapon of mass destruction
We need to find courage, overcome Inaction is a weapon of mass destruction Inaction is a weapon of mass destruction Inaction is a weapon of mass destruction"
They say that you haven't really achieved true stardom status until you've been invited as a guest on the hit American children's television show, Sesame Street. I was delighted to one day catch R.E.M. performing a parody of their hit song, "Shiny Happy People". (This took place way back when my kids were of Sesame Street watching age.)
Here's the actual song, for those who have never heard it:
This is a new ear-catching tune from Timbaland ... this man really knows what he's doing ...
Enjoy !
I'm holding on your rope, Got me ten feet off the ground And I'm hearing what you say but I just can't make a sound You tell me that you need me Then you go and cut me down, but wait You tell me that you're sorry Didn't think I'd turn around, and say...
Chorus That it's too late to apologize It's too late I said it's too late to apologize It's too late
I'd take another chance, take a fall Take a shot for you And I need you like a heart needs a beat [Apologize lyrics on http://www.metrolyrics.com]
But it's nothing new - yeah I loved you with the a fire red- Now it's turning blue, and you say... "Sorry" like the angel Heaven let me think was you But I'm afraid...
Chorus Whoaa ohhh...
Bridge (guitar/piano)
It's too late to apologize, it's too late I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late I said it's too late to apologize, yeah- I said it's too late to apologize, yeah- I'm holding on your rope, got me ten feet... off the ground...
Peroxide blonde, snearing punk crooner, Billy Idol, released the hit song, "Cradle of Love" on his fourth studio album Charmed Life in 1990. I was 14 when I first saw the video. It is not really suitable for kids, but I was one year past "teenager" status and was mesmerized. Once you watch it, you'll see why.
At the 1990 MTV Video Music Award, the video was nominated for Best Male Video and Best Special Effects and won the award for Best Video from a Film. Oh, and the song rocks.
And did you know that the director, David Fincher, made the decision to film Idol from the waist up as he was unable to walk from a motorcycle accident that had happened in February 1990?
I just spend around half an hour trying to figure out the name of the song and the artist by googling what I could remember of the lyrics. I was driving home after having a bad day; a lot of things just went wrong and I got into one of those moods where I felt hopeless and overwhelmed. I turned on the radio and the acoustic version of this song had just started playing, it was excactly what I needed to hear!
I couldn't find a good acoustic version on youtube but here it is, enjoy She talks to angels by Black Crowes.
There are a lot of ‘good mood’ songs that are fun to listen to anytime. But there are a few that, no matter what kind of a state I’m in, never fail to bring out a huge smile and remind me that things aren’t that bad. I am indebted to the following artists for saving me a countless number of times…
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
As silly as it may sound ("MAMA MIA FIGARO!!") this is actually a very complicated song to play and anyone who knows music can agree that it’s nothing short of genius. But it’s one of those tracks that’s 100 times better when you sing along completely off key and then head bang at the cool guitar part (a la Wayne’s World)!
Aha - Take on me
Other than the fact that it is very uplifting itself, this song brings back sooooo many childhood memories and immediately brings a smile to my face. Once again, singing along is a must for the full ‘happy’ effect, especially that really high note that sounds like it could break glass, but when you try it sounds like a dying cat.
Sway - Little Derek
What I like about this track from relatively new British rapper Sway is that it injects innocence into hip hop. With mostly all other modern rap consisting of guns, bitches & hoes, this is a really refreshing interlude with a playful lyrical flow.
Electric Light Orchestra – Mr. Blue Sky
Whether it’s a really beautiful day or not, this always makes me feel like it’s an especially cool day in the middle of summer. Expect a huge grin to surface as you remember the last great summer day you had.
Lilly Allen – Smile
A completely obvious choice. Though the subject matter isn’t really that happy (more like ‘you go girl, men aint shit’ kind of lyrics), the music and her voice are always uplifting nonetheless.
George Baker Selection - Little Green Bag
I don’t think I will ever be able to listen to this song and NOT think of the intro sequence to Reservoir Dogs. Especially if I’m on the move and listening on headphones, I always subconsciously start walking in slow motion…
Nelly - Ride wid me
That riff is just awesome! And even though I am usually anti materialism and trivialities…sometimes it’s fun to pretend!
Mika - Grace Kelly
The first time I heard this all I could think was “fudge-packer!” But it does have a really infectious way of growing on you, and before you know it you’re dancing manically to it in your room singing into a brush. Or not…
Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood
“I’m happy, I’m feeling glad, I got sunshine…in a bag” Brilliant.
The Doors – Whiskey Bar
Jim Morrison was a legend. But he was also a drunk, and this song I feel encapsulates those happy, blurry party moments of the ‘lizard king’.
This is one of good old ones ... it has a sweet mystic tone ... it was an international hit back in 1994 ... does anyone one remember how much they used to play it on JTV2 ??
Boul ma sene, boul ma guiss madi re nga fokni mane Khamouma li neka thi sama suuf ak thi guinaw Beugouma kouma khol daldine yaw li neka si yaw Mo ne si man li ne si mane moye dilene diapale
{TRANSLATION:} {Don't see me from a distance} {Don't look at my smile} {And think that I don't know} {What's under and behind me} {I don't want you to look at me and think} {What's in you is in me} {What's in me is to help them}
Roughness and rudeness, we should be using On the ones who practice wicked charms For the sword and the stone, bad to the bone Battle's not over even when it's won
And when a child is born into this world It has no concept of the tone the skin is living in
It's not a second, seven seconds away Just as long as stay, I'll be waiting It's not a second, seven seconds away Just as long as stay, I'll be waiting I'll be waiting, I'll be waiting

Seven seconds away Just as long as stay, I'll be waiting It's not a second, seven seconds away Just as long as stay, I'll be waiting I'll be waiting, I'll be waiting
And when a child is born into this world It has no concept of the tone the skin is living in And there's a million voices And there's a million voices To tell you what she should be thinking So you better sober up for just a second
Seven seconds away Just as long as stay, I'll be waiting It's not a second, seven seconds away Just as long as stay, I'll be waiting It's not a second, seven seconds away Just as long as stay, I'll be waiting It's not a second, seven seconds away Just as long as stay, I'll be waiting It's not a second, seven seconds away Just as long as stay, I'll be waiting
One of my favourite songs of all time ... I really like Metallica's songs and this one is no exception ... Here it is in the famous S&M Concert version ...
Enjoy !
Mama they try and break me
The window burns to light the way back home A light that warms no matter where they've gone
They're off to find the hero of the day But what if they should fall by someone's wicked way
Still the window burns Time so slowly turns And someone there is sighing Keepers of the flames Do you feel your names? Can't you hear your baby's crying? Mama they try and break me Still they try and break me
S'cuse me while I tend to how I feel These things return to me that still seem real
Now deservingly this easy chair But the rocking stopped by wheels of despair
Don't want your aid But the fist I've made For years, can't hold or feel No I'm not all me So please excuse me While I tend to how I feel
But now the dreams and waking screams That everlast the night So build a wall Behind it crawl And hide until it's light Can't you hear your baby's crying now?
Still the window burns Time so slowly turns And someone there is sighing Keepers of the flames Can't you hear your names? Can't you hear your baby's crying?
But now the dreams and waking screams That everlast the night So build a wall Behind it crawl And hide until it's light Can't you hear your baby's crying now?
Mama they try and break me Mama they try and break me Mama they try and break me Mama they try Mama they try hey! Mama they try and break me Mama they try and break me Mama they try and break me Mama they try Mama they try
This is , I think , my favorite movie soundtrack ever.
The first song is by The Rolling Stones
Can't You Hear Me Knocking - Rolling Stones
The next one might put you to sleep but I like it, makes me think. Apparently Link Wray was a great very influential guitar player...never heard of him, heheeee.
Rumble - Link Wray
Next is Glad and Sorry by The Faces from their Ooh La La album.
I couldn't find it :( I love this song, I found the "The Black Crows" singing it, it was sung best by the faces so , sorry people, try to download the original, it's great.
Now this is good, ok I am biased so I can't give you an unbiased opinion because I like the whole soundtrack.
Strange Brew - Cream
I already featured the next song on the blog before, a bunch of fugly dudes but damn, I like this song, but honestly, dudes, you ugly, lol.
Black Betty - Ram Jam
Next is my favorite on the soundtrack (did I already say I have a favorite?) If I did this overrides it. Blinded by the light by Manfred Mann's Earth Band.
This song is as old as me. Guess how old I am :D .
Blinded by the light by Manfred Mann's Earth Band
Next is :
KC & Sunshine Band - Keep It Comin' Love
Then it's :
That Smell - LynardSkynard
Next is the easiest Song to remember cos the lyrics are only tow lines heheehe
All The Tired Horses (Bob Dylan)
I like this one
Marshall Tucker Band - Can't You See
Nikka Costa - Push & Pull
I couldn't find: Boogaloo (Willie Rosario). Yellow World (J Girls).
One observation, why are all the 70's singers wanting in the looks and style department? Seriously? wus up with that?
I’ve never wanted to be a piano so much, just to have those incredibly talented fingers touch me repeatedly...ok, now I realize this is an odd start and I promise to be much less creepy from now on..
It’s just that it’s so…damn good!! I’m not only referring to how brilliant it is musically, with the funky grooves, epic piano work and soulful ballads, nor am I referring to one of the strongest female vocals possessing mind blowing range and oozing originality and naked honesty. All these elements are fantastic, but what takes it to another level and earns my respect is the honest approach it takes to covering what it is to be in love, a topic that has been covered to death yet rarely escapes the world of cliché. I usually have a problem with albums that lack variety of topic, yet I’m very much willing to make an exception and accept this as a complete and touching ode to love; the first times (Teenage Love Affair), the steamy times (Prelude to a Kiss), the bitter times (Go Ahead), the aftermath (Lesson Learned) and everything in between (The Thing about Love). You cannot produce an album like without having been through it all, and Alicia Keys is one of the few modern artists that can bare it all and burn pure love to a CD ‘as she is’.
Love. It’s a beautiful thing and everyone should experience true love at least once; to find another soul in the blur of confusion and fear in this mad world and just enjoy the beautiful unity. If not...this album is the next best thing.
Nothing to say about this song, I really enjoy listening to it a lot.
No Heaven - DJ Champion
No Heaven lyrics
Oh lord (oh lord)...
Oh boy I thought I told you Well I told you but I thought you know There ain't no heaven Oh lord, there ain't no heaven There ain't no heaven On the county road
Don't talk about it Boy oh boy, don't talk about it Don't talk about it If you do, I'll cry Don't come around me Oh lord, don't come around me Don't come around me If you do, I'll die
Oh lord, there ain't no heaven Oh lord, there ain't no heaven
Down at the station stood my dear old mother She keep on, keep on screamin' and cryin' "Oh lord I wonder what my son has done"
Oh lord, there ain't no heaven Oh lord, there ain't no heaven Oh lord
Did you bring me, bring me any silver He didn't bring me, bring me any gold Oh did you see me, workin' on South Carolina Just to see me work on the county road
Oh lord (oh lord), there ain't no heaven Oh lord (oh lord), there ain't no heaven (Oh lord, oh lord)
There ain't no heaven (there ain't no heaven) (Oh lord, there ain't no heaven) Oh lord (oh lord), there ain't no heaven
I really really like this song. Her voice is just great. By the way, the first time i heard her talk I was shocked, she sounds like a girl from da hood and it was a shock cos she looked so dainty and beautiful singing fallin on the piano.
Number 2: Chris Brown Featuring T-Pain - Kiss kiss
Number 3: Timbaland Featuring OneRepublic - Apologize
Nice! I really like the video too.
Number 4: Flo Rida Featuring T-Pain - Low
Number 5: Colbie Caillat - Bubbly
I really like this song, and her voice is so velvety. It's on the radio all the time.
Number 6: Soulja Boy Tell'em - Crank That (Soulja Boy)
Number 7: Kanye West Featuring T-Pain - Good Life
Kanye irritates me.
number 8: Fergie - Clumsy
Number 9: Baby Bash Featuring T-Pain - Cyclone
Number 10: Kanye West - Stronger
The song is not bad.
So did you notice how T-Pain is like almost in all the songs? what's up with that?
I'm a big theater person, especially high-energy musical shows! I actually don't get the opportunity to see them that often but last night I drove 3 hours to see the traveling production of Rent the musical which I absolutely loved! Every song was a good song and Seasons of Love has become the signature Rent song, Enjoy!
The punk band, Good Charlotte, recently released their fourth album entitled Good Morning Revival. One of the more popular songs from the album, "Dance Floor Anthem", is garnering a lot of airtime with its arena rock sound.
The music video is intensely hyped with its never-ending hospital hallway and dancing nurses. Front man Joel Madden doesn't quite have the moves as other more seasoned rockers, but the voice is there. Speculation is that the song was written after Madden's split with pop princess Hilary Duff.
The energetic song and punchy base sounds great if played through a good set of speakers (which excludes the weenie ones on your computer). You'll need to play this one on some decent equipment to really get the full rockin' effect.
As the cold, winter season in Jordan approaches and the days become more dreary, I find myself lapsing into "moodier" tunes, songs that might be apropos coming out of the speakers at Starbucks. Perhaps such songs appeal to my desire to be sitting in a snug corner of some quaint coffee house, sipping a hot drink and reading a good book on a cold, rainy day. Who knows.
But for those of you feel the need to get in touch with your "moodier" side as the clouds roll in, here are some of my favorites:
James Blunt's All the Lost Souls album
John Mayer's Continuum album
A few delicious songs from KT Tunstall's album, Eye to the Telescope (namely "Other Side of the World", "Under the Weather", "Universe & U" and "Stoppin' the Love")
Any song by Nora Jones (including one sung with Ray Charles entitled "Here We Go Again" from the Genius Loves Company album)
"Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak
"Hearbeats" by Jose Gonzalez
"Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol
"Sparks" by Coldplay
I hope this gets you started. Please feel free to share your own personal recommendations as I'm still building my "Coffee House Tunes" playlist to last me throughout the winter.
This song is most commonly known as that awesome song that played on Grey's Anatomy during the emotional scene where Dr.Yang is standing side by side with her boyfriend Dr. Burk in the OR and is secretly performing the surgery in place of him since his hands are injured. Damien Rice likes to leave his songs open to interpretation but to me this song is about someone who has cheated on their significant other and is coming in terms with the guilt and sorry. This is the version sung with Lisa Hannigan who has a beautiful voice.
Flamboyant crooner Mika (pronounced Mee-ka) pranced onto the music scene last year with his debut album Life in Cartoon Motion and a number one single "Grace Kelly". His kaleidoscopic music has been compared with artists such as Freddy Mercury (of Queen fame), Elton John, Sister Scissors and David Bowie.
For some, Mika's magpie sound and tight jeans may be an acquired taste. Others may instantly be drawn to his campy, over-the-top melodies.
One of the "bouncier" songs off of Mika's debut album, "Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)", is a kickback to Queen's "Fat Bottom Girls". The video was shot candid and low budget and features curvaceous women running down Croydon High Street and Surrey Street Market in Croydon, Surrey, England.
One of the best songs of the 20th century ... and a must have on every best-of list ... this song talks about the changes in eastern Europe in the late 80's and 1990 ... especially in Germany and Russia ... its still very popular in Germany ... and the brits use it like some sort of a military tune ... very beautiful song ... i remember VirginKiller (local band) does a really good cover for it ... i listened to it last time in Wakalat Street this summer ...
Enjoy !
Original Version (1990)
Acoustic Version (Portugal , 2001) =Awesome=
I follow the Moskva Down to Gorky Park Listening to the wind of change An August summer night Soldiers passing by Listening to the wind of change
The world closing in Did you ever think That we could be so close, like brothers The future's in the air I can feel it everywhere Blowing with the wind of change
Chorus: Take me to the magic of the moment On a glory night Where the children of tomorrow dream away In the wind of change
Walking down the street Distant memories Are buried in the past forever
I fallow the Moskva Down to Gorky Park Listening to the wind of change
Take me to the magic of the moment On a glory night Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams With you and me
Take me to the magic of the moment On a glory night Where the children of tomorrow dream away In the wind of change
The wind of change blows straight Into the face of time Like a stormwind that will ring The freedom bell for peace of mind Let your balalaika sing What my guitar wants to say
Take me to the magic of the moment On a glory night Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams With you and me
Take me to the magic of the moment On a glory night Where the children of tomorrow dream away In the wind of change
I've blogged about this artist previously on my blog and I was a fan of hers before her name was really known. The first time I heard her name mentioned on the radio I had already had half of her songs memorized on her debut album titled "little voices" which was number 1 on itunes recently. I've classified her as the feminine younger version of tracy chapman or the optimistic version of fiona apple. She sings her own words and plays her own instruments (some of them), I'm talking about Sara Bareilles (pronounced Burellis)! This is my favorite song of hers titled Vegas which is (I think) inspired by an old bad relationship of hers. Enjoy my debut post (and be nice to me)!
I got a bit of a chuckle reading Hani's comment on the Madonna post. You can read it for yourself, but to recap:
I remember in school everyone had to pick any song and try to explain what the lyrics mean, and I picked (Like a prayer). Only when I wrote the lyrics, instead of writing (your voice can take me there). It sounded to me like (your bus can take me there), and I explained how the song is about her boyfriend the bus driver, and the whole class laughed, as I died of embarrassment.
The reason it was so funny to me was because I've also mis-heard (or misinterpreted) hundreds of lyrics. And I'm even willing to share one of mine.
In the song "Flashdance...What a Feeling" (by Irene Cara), I used to think that the line "take your passion and make it happen" was "take your pants down and make it happen". A Freudian slip, perhaps, but I know I'm not the first person to hear it that way. I still sing it like that from time to time. In the car, when no one is listening. Don't tell anyone.
If there's one band who has withstood the test of time, it's Aerosmith. They have sold 150 million albums worldwide, 65.5 million albums in the United States alone, making them the bestselling American hard rock band of all time. Their musical evolution over the years has made them major innovators in American hard rock, pop, glam, blues, and rap, and has inspired legions of rock artists that came after them.
Aerosmith has become well known for their ability to create slightly veiled, double entendre-laced, innocent-sounding raunch. And what better way to illustrate than to showcase their first Top 40 hit, "Sweet Emotion".
I remember first watching the "Sweet Emotion" video back in the 80's. I was fascinated by frontman Steven Tyler's brash moves and fancy footwork. I loved the concept of a 1-900 midnight phone chat (which would never work in today's internet culture). But the best part of the video is the twist ending (which probably contains more truth than we realize).
Also help us welcome Asoom who joined this blog and we hope to hear from her play list soon. Just in, Dave is going to be joining us too.
So welcome to both Dave and Asoom and we hope that you will make us look like utter slackers here and keep this blog alive :) Best of Wishes & Enjoy!
ps. this is just to make up for the niche song post before although i think i didn't like MIA at first but she grew on me, plus we didn't have a single Madonna song here :)
I just love M.I.A., beside the point that i get a kick out of me loving a bollywood sounding song but in general what i like about her is that she brings a fresh new breeze to rap. Plus it helps that her lyrics carry a strong political message so ENJOY ! adja...
I am not sure if this is accurate but it is very interesting. I also never knew that the song killing me softly is about Don McLean!
Don McLean - American Pie
American Pie - Don McLean
A long, long time ago... I can still remember How that music used to make me smile. And I knew if I had my chance That I could make those people dance And, maybe, they’d be happy for a while.
But february made me shiver With every paper I’d deliver. Bad news on the doorstep; I couldn’t take one more step.
I can’t remember if I cried When I read about his widowed bride, But something touched me deep inside The day the music died.
So bye-bye, miss american pie. Drove my chevy to the levee, But the levee was dry. And them good old boys were drinkin’ whiskey and rye Singin’, "this’ll be the day that I die. "this’ll be the day that I die."
Did you write the book of love, And do you have faith in God above, If the Bible tells you so? Do you believe in rock ’n roll, Can music save your mortal soul, And can you teach me how to dance real slow?
Well, I know that you’re in love with him `cause I saw you dancin’ in the gym. You both kicked off your shoes. Man, I dig those rhythm and blues.
I was a lonely teenage broncin’ buck With a pink carnation and a pickup truck, But I knew I was out of luck The day the music died.
I started singin’, "bye-bye, miss american pie." Drove my chevy to the levee, But the levee was dry. Them good old boys were drinkin’ whiskey and rye And singin’, "this’ll be the day that I die. "this’ll be the day that I die."
Now for ten years we’ve been on our own And moss grows fat on a rollin’ stone, But that’s not how it used to be. When the jester sang for the king and queen, In a coat he borrowed from james dean And a voice that came from you and me,
Oh, and while the king was looking down, The jester stole his thorny crown. The courtroom was adjourned; No verdict was returned. And while lennon read a book of marx, The quartet practiced in the park, And we sang dirges in the dark The day the music died.
We were singing, "bye-bye, miss american pie." Drove my chevy to the levee, But the levee was dry. Them good old boys were drinkin’ whiskey and rye And singin’, "this’ll be the day that I die. "this’ll be the day that I die."
Helterskelter in a summer swelter. The birds flew off with a fallout shelter, Eight miles high and falling fast. It landed foul on the grass. The players tried for a forward pass, With the jester on the sidelines in a cast.
Now the half-time air was sweet perfume While the sergeants played a marching tune. We all got up to dance, Oh, but we never got the chance! `cause the players tried to take the field; The marching band refused to yield. Do you recall what was revealed The day the music died?
We started singing, "bye-bye, miss american pie." Drove my chevy to the levee, But the levee was dry. Them good old boys were drinkin’ whiskey and rye And singin’, "this’ll be the day that I die. "this’ll be the day that I die."
Oh, and there we were all in one place, A generation lost in space With no time left to start again. So come on: jack be nimble, jack be quick! Jack flash sat on a candlestick Cause fire is the devil’s only friend.
Oh, and as I watched him on the stage My hands were clenched in fists of rage. No angel born in hell Could break that satan’s spell. And as the flames climbed high into the night To light the sacrificial rite, I saw satan laughing with delight The day the music died
He was singing, "bye-bye, miss american pie." Drove my chevy to the levee, But the levee was dry. Them good old boys were drinkin’ whiskey and rye And singin’, "this’ll be the day that I die. "this’ll be the day that I die."
I met a girl who sang the blues And I asked her for some happy news, But she just smiled and turned away. I went down to the sacred store Where I’d heard the music years before, But the man there said the music wouldn’t play.
And in the streets: the children screamed, The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed. But not a word was spoken; The church bells all were broken. And the three men I admire most: The father, son, and the holy ghost, They caught the last train for the coast The day the music died.
And they were singing, "bye-bye, miss american pie." Drove my chevy to the levee, But the levee was dry. And them good old boys were drinkin’ whiskey and rye Singin’, "this’ll be the day that I die. "this’ll be the day that I die."
They were singing, "bye-bye, miss american pie." Drove my chevy to the levee, But the levee was dry. Them good old boys were drinkin’ whiskey and rye Singin’, "this’ll be the day that I die."
This song has been always one of my favourites, year 93 is when I started getting obsessed with music, and I have to tell you , years 93- 94 had SO MANY amazing songs and this is one of them.
Now, why are all talented artists troubled either they OD or kill themselves or something.
Do you need to have a tortured soul to produce good music?
Blind Melon - No Rain
Blind Melon - No Rain
All I can say is that my life is pretty plain I like watchin' the puddles gather rain
And all I can do is just pour some tea for two and speak my point of view But it's not sane, It's not sane
I just want someone to say to me oh, oh, oh, oh I'll always be there when you wake yea, yea Ya know I'd like to keep my cheeks dry today, hey So stay with me and I'll have it made
And I don't understand why I sleep all day And I start to complain that there's no rain
And all I can do is read a book to stay awake And it rips my life away, but it's a great escape escape......escape......escape......
All I can say is that my life is pretty plain ya don't like my point of view ya think I'm insane Its not sane......it's not sane.
I just want someone to say to me oh, oh, oh, oh I'll always be there when you wake yea, yea Ya know I'd like to keep my cheeks dry today, hey So stay with me and I'll have it made
(I'll have it made I'll have it made You know we're really gonna, really gonna have it made Gonna have it made ahhh, ahhh, ahhh, ahhh)
Isam was away on summer vacation then the poor guys blog got hacked.
Everybody knows what happened to poor who-Sane and his family , his dad is doing much better now so I hope he gets back in the groove of blogging by contributing here at least ... hint hint :D .
I 7aki have been busy with life and work and stuff so I couldn't really post anything ... OK and lazy too.
And Bambam? I think he is just a lazy bum bum, lol ...
So now we are back and as BamBam would say ... ENJOY!
This song ... touches me deep inside ... I feel it's me talking ...
ps . the distance between Jeddah and Amman is 1600 Km which is almost 1000 miles ... sigh
Hey there Delilah What's it like in New York City? I'm a thousand miles away But girl tonight you look so pretty Yes you do Times Square can't shine as bright as you I swear it's true
Hey there Delilah Don't you worry about the distance I'm right there if you get lonely Give this song another listen Close your eyes Listen to my voice it's my disguise I'm by your side
Oh it's what you do to me Oh it's what you do to me Oh it's what you do to me Oh it's what you do to me What you do to me
Hey there Delilah I know times are getting hard But just believe me girl Someday I'll pay the bills with this guitar We'll have it good We'll have the life we knew we would My word is good
Hey there Delilah I've got so much left to say If every simple song I wrote to you Would take your breath away I'd write it all Even more in love with me you'd fall We'd have it all
Oh it's what you do to me Oh it's what you do to me Oh it's what you do to me Oh it's what you do to me
A thousand miles seems pretty far But they've got planes and trains and cars I'd walk to you if I had no other way Our friends would all make fun of us and we'll just laugh along because we know That none of them have felt this way Delilah I can promise you That by the time we get through The world will never ever be the same And you're to blame
Hey there Delilah You be good and don't you miss me Two more years and you'll be done with school And I'll be making history like I do You'll know it's all because of you We can do whatever we want to Hey there Delilah here's to you This ones for you
Oh it's what you do to me Oh it's what you do to me Oh it's what you do to me Oh it's what you do to me What you do to me.
Since I missed posting last week's playlist, I thought to make it up some how and since there has been an over abundance of rock tracks lately I thought to walk the other direction and give you a double dosage of Hiphopdom(Rap & Rn'B).
Playlist Rap:
Eminem & 2pac - Murder, Murder
2pac - Do For Love
Nas- The Message
Twista & Puff Daddy ft. Carl Thomas - Is This The End
Jay Z - What More Can I Say (grey album)
Eminem ft. D12 - Words Are Weapons
The Streets - The Irony Of It All (love this song for comic relief, added just for kicks)
Playlist Rn'B (cycle of a love life):
Erykah Badu & common- Love of my life
Dead Prez - Mind Sex
Common ft. Lauryn Hill - Retrospect For Life (Kinzi I think you'll like this song for the lyrics)

Starry Starry Night - Don Mclean
Starry, starry night. Paint your palette blue and grey, Look out on a summer's day, With eyes that know the darkness in my soul. Shadows on the hills, Sketch the trees and the daffodils, Catch the breeze and the winter chills, In colors on the snowy linen land.
Now I understand what you tried to say to me, How you suffered for your sanity, How you tried to set them free. They would not listen, they did not know how. Perhaps they'll listen now.
Starry, starry night. Flaming flowers that brightly blaze, Swirling clouds in violet haze, Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue. Colors changing hue, morning field of amber grain, Weathered faces lined in pain, Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand.
Now I understand what you tried to say to me, How you suffered for your sanity, How you tried to set them free. They would not listen, they did not know how. Perhaps they'll listen now.
For they could not love you, But still your love was true. And when no hope was left in sight On that starry, starry night, You took your life, as lovers often do. But I could have told you, Vincent, This world was never meant for one As beautiful as you.
Starry, starry night. Portraits hung in empty halls, Frameless head on nameless walls, With eyes that watch the world and can't forget. Like the strangers that you've met, The ragged men in the ragged clothes, The silver thorn of bloody rose, Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow.
Now I think I know what you tried to say to me, How you suffered for your sanity, How you tried to set them free. They would not listen, they're not listening still. Perhaps they never will... _______________________________________________________
Isam reminded me of Lynyrd Skynyrd with his latest post with Metallica's 'Tuesday's Gone' cover.
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Simple Man
Mama told me when I was young Come sit beside me, my only son And listen closely to what I say. And if you do this It will help you some sunny day. Take your time... Don't live too fast, Troubles will come and they will pass. Go find a woman and you'll find love, And don't forget son, There is someone up above.
(Chorus) And be a simple kind of man. Be something you love and understand. Be a simple kind of man. Won't you do this for me son, If you can?
Forget your lust for the rich man's gold All that you need is in your soul, And you can do this if you try. All that I want for you my son, Is to be satisfied.
(Chorus)
Boy, don't you worry... you'll find yourself. Follow you heart and nothing else. And you can do this if you try. All I want for you my son, Is to be satisfied.
One of my best songs ... I really like this song too much ... and I am seriously gonna shoot a short film where this song plays from start to end ... One day ...
Enjoy !
Train roll on, on down the line Won't you please take me far ... far away Now, I feel the wind blow ... outside my door oh and I'm leaving my woman at home
My baby's gone ... Tuesday's gone with the wind My baby's gone with the wind
And I don't know oh where I'm going I just want to be left alone When this train ends, I'll try again I'm leaving my woman at home
My baby's gone ... Tuesday's gone with the wind Tuesday's gone with the wind Tuesday's gone with the wind My baby's gone with the wind
Train roll on
Tuesday's gone with the wind Tuesday's gone with the wind Tuesday's gone with the wind My baby's gone with the wind
Train roll on, many miles from my home See, I'm riding my blues baby ... blues away Tuesday, you see, she had to be free But somehow, I've got to carry on
My baby's gone ... Tuesday's gone with the wind Tuesday's gone with the wind Tuesday's gone with the wind My baby's gone with the wind
Train roll on ... Ride on train ... Lord ... I can change ...
This is the unplugged version of the multi-talented Bruce Dickinson's 'Tears of the Dragon'.
I'm saying he's multi-talented because in addition to being an amazing singer, a guitarist, a drummer and an excellent performer, he's also a commercial pilot, a writer, an international professional in fencing and a BBC reporter!
He composed this song after he quit Iron Maiden in 1993, which he later rejoined in 1999.
I personally liked his songs more when he went solo.
For too long now, there were secrets in my mind For too long now, there were things I should have said In the darkness...i was stumbling for the door To find a reason - to find the time, the place, the hour
Waiting for the winter sun, and the cold light of day The misty ghosts of childhood fears The pressure is building, and I cant stay away
I throw myself into the sea Release the wave, let it wash over me To face the fear I once believed The tears of the dragon, for you and for me
Where I was, I had wings that couldnt fly Where I was, I had tears I couldnt cry My emotions frozen in an icy lake I couldnt feel them until the ice began to break
I have no power over this, you know Im afraid The walls I built are crumbling The water is moving, Im slipping away...
I throw myself into the sea Release the wave, let it wash over me To face the fear I once believed The tears of the dragon, for you and for me
Slowly I awake, slowly I rise The walls I built are crumbling The water is moving, Im slipping away...
I throw (I throw) Myself (myself) Into the sea Release the wave, let it wash over me To face (to face) The fear (the fear) I once believed The tears of the dragon, for you and for me
I throw (I throw) Myself (myself) Into the sea Release the wave, let it wash over me To face (to face) The fear (the fear) I once believed The tears of the dragon, for you and for me
And more Suzie ... she's Canadian, eh...all those American show's like rockstar Inxs and Rockstar supernova were won by Canadians...what can I say, we Canadians are talented .. hehehehe..did you notice the we? As if inno for real, I just became Canadian last year ... hahahaha ...anyways, enough of my silly talk, enjoy the song.
